Company Overview

Our client is a global organisation with operations across North America, EMEA, and APAC. Due to a recent transition in the finance leadership team and increased regulatory demands, they are seeking an experienced Interim Group Financial Controller to join the London-based head office. This role is critical to ensuring accurate and timely group financial reporting under US GAAP, driving technical accounting compliance, and leading global consolidation efforts.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the group financial reporting process, including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, in compliance with US GAAP.

  • Oversee group consolidations across multiple international subsidiaries, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

  • Act as the subject matter expert on technical accounting issues, including revenue recognition (ASC 606), lease accounting (ASC 842), and other relevant US GAAP standards.

  • Manage the external audit process and liaise with auditors to ensure a clean audit opinion.

  • Ensure compliance with SOX/internal controls, working closely with internal audit and compliance teams.

  • Provide strategic input on financial governance, policy implementation, and process improvement.

  • Collaborate with FP&A, Tax, Legal, and Treasury teams to provide financial insights and support business decision-making.

  • Support the CFO in ad hoc financial projects, system improvements, and M&A activity where required.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent).

  • Minimum of 10 years' post-qualified experience, with at least 3–5 years in a senior group finance/controller role.

  • Expert knowledge of US GAAP and strong understanding of IFRS.

  • Experience in a multinational and multi-currency environment.

  • Proven ability to lead group consolidations and reporting across global subsidiaries.

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, including working with C-suite and external advisors.

  • Prior experience working in a fast-paced environment, ideally within private equity-backed or listed businesses.

  • Strong systems experience (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Hyperion, OneStream, or similar consolidation/reporting tools).
