Job Title: Financial Controller

About the Role:
We are delighted to be working with a well-established and reputable client in Staffordshire to recruit an experienced Financial Controller. This is a key appointment for the business, acting as the No.1 finance professional on site, and reporting directly to the Group Finance Director.
This is a hands-on role responsible for overseeing the full finance function of the site, including monthly management accounts, statutory audit processes, and day-to-day financial operations. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in driving financial control and supporting strategic business decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare timely and accurate monthly management accounts and financial reports
Manage and maintain the general ledger, ensuring all entries are correct and reconciled
Lead the statutory audit process and liaise with external auditors
Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
Maintain robust financial controls and processes in line with group policies
Monitor cash flow, working capital, and cost control
Produce ad hoc financial reports and analysis for the Group Director
Support operational teams with financial insights and commercial analysis
Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations
Manage and develop a small finance team (if applicable)
Key Requirements:
Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA)
Proven experience in a Financial Controller or similar role, ideally within manufacturing or industrial sectors
Strong technical accounting skills and knowledge of UK GAAP
Ability to work independently, with a hands-on approach
High attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proficient in financial software and Excel
