As we expand our operations, we are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Financial Controller to lead our finance function and support the continued growth of the business.

Position Summary

The Financial Controller will oversee all financial operations of the hotel group, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cash flow management, and compliance. This is a senior leadership role requiring a proactive individual with strong financial acumen and a hands-on approach, ideally with experience in the hospitality sector.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the finance team in producing accurate monthly management accounts and financial statements.

  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning across all properties.

  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including VAT, corporation tax, and payroll.

  • Develop and maintain internal controls and financial procedures to safeguard assets and ensure efficiency.

  • Manage relationships with external auditors, banks, and key stakeholders.

  • Provide insightful financial analysis and reporting to support strategic decision-making by the executive team.

  • Monitor KPIs and operational performance metrics, identifying areas for cost control and revenue improvement.

  • Supervise accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and cash flow management.

  • Coordinate the implementation and use of financial systems and tools across the group.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent).

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a financial leadership role, ideally within the hospitality or hotel industry.

  • Strong understanding of UK accounting standards and financial regulations.

  • Proven experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

  • Proficient in financial systems (e.g., Sage, Opera, Xero, or similar hotel PMS/accounting platforms).

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and results-driven.
