We are a leading £25m event management company based in Coventry, delivering large-scale live events, corporate experiences, exhibitions, and brand activations across the UK and internationally. With a dynamic and fast-paced environment, our business is built on creativity, collaboration, and operational excellence. We are now seeking a commercially minded Financial Controller to join our senior management team and play a critical role in driving financial performance and strategic decision-making.
As Financial Controller, you will be responsible for the overall financial health and compliance of the business. You will lead the finance function, ensuring accurate reporting, effective budgeting, cashflow management, and insightful financial analysis to support the company’s growth and profitability.
Oversee all aspects of the company’s financial operations, including management accounts, statutory reporting, and compliance.
Prepare timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
Monitor and manage cash flow, working capital, and cost controls.
Provide detailed financial analysis and commercial insight to inform strategic decisions.
Work closely with department heads to support project costing, pricing strategies, and margin improvement.
Ensure compliance with tax regulations, audit requirements, and financial controls.
Manage external relationships with auditors, banks, insurers, and HMRC.
Lead and develop a small finance team (AP/AR, payroll, junior accountants).
Identify and implement process improvements, including automation and system enhancements.
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience in a senior finance role.
Experience within event management, media, hospitality, or a similarly dynamic industry is highly desirable.
Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience with UK GAAP and statutory reporting.
Excellent financial modelling, forecasting, and analytical skills.
Commercially astute, with a hands-on approach and the ability to challenge and influence stakeholders.
Experience with accounting systems (e.g., Sage, Xero, or similar) and strong Excel skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Strong leadership and team development experience.
