As we look ahead to the next phase of growth, we are seeking a commercially astute and strategic Finance Director to join our leadership team at our Watford headquarters.

Role Overview

Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the board, the Finance Director will take full ownership of the company’s financial strategy, planning, and operations. You will play a pivotal role in driving sustainable profitability, improving systems and processes, and supporting strategic decisions to grow and future-proof the business.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the finance function, including financial planning and analysis, budgeting, reporting, compliance, and cashflow management.
  • Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual accounts in accordance with statutory and management requirements.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies that support commercial goals and operational efficiency.
  • Partner with department heads to provide actionable insights and support data-driven decision making.
  • Lead on forecasting, scenario planning, and business modelling for new and existing operations.
  • Manage relationships with auditors, banks, and external advisors.
  • Ensure financial controls, governance, and regulatory compliance are robust and fit-for-purpose.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, cost savings, and margin improvement across the business.
  • Support M&A activity, store performance analysis, and e-commerce growth strategies.
  • Provide clear and concise reports and recommendations to the board and stakeholders.
Qualifications

Requirements

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified with significant post-qualified experience.
  • Proven track record as a Finance Director or senior financial leader within retail, FMCG, or multi-site environments.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to see beyond the numbers and drive business value.
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning at board level.
  • Skilled in financial systems and reporting tools (e.g., ERP, Power BI, Excel modelling).
  • Hands-on, proactive approach with the ability to lead and develop a high-performing finance team.
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
