Role Overview

As Finance Director, you will report directly to the Managing Director and play a pivotal role in driving the financial strategy of the business. You will lead all financial planning, analysis, and control functions, ensuring sound financial health while providing insight and guidance for sustainable growth. This is a hands-on leadership role, suited to someone who is both strategically astute and operationally strong.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the finance function, managing budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes.

  • Provide financial analysis and commercial insight to support strategic decision-making.

  • Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts and annual statutory accounts.

  • Drive financial planning, cash flow management, and risk mitigation strategies.

  • Act as a strategic business partner to the senior leadership team, influencing business direction and priorities.

  • Lead on pricing strategies, cost control, and margin analysis for tours and packages.

  • Liaise with external stakeholders including auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies.

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with financial regulations, HMRC requirements, and industry-specific rules (e.g., ATOL, ABTA).

  • Identify and implement system and process improvements to support scalable growth.

  • Oversee payroll, tax, insurance, and treasury management.

Qualifications

andidate Profile

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with at least 7+ years of senior finance experience.

  • Proven track record in a leadership finance role, ideally within the travel, tourism, or hospitality sector.

  • Strong commercial acumen with experience influencing business performance at board level.

  • Hands-on and collaborative leader, able to work across departments with credibility.

  • Experience managing financial operations in a growing SME environment.

  • Familiarity with industry regulatory frameworks (e.g., ATOL, ABTA) is highly desirable.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
