Salary: £65,000 – £80,000 DOE + Benefits + Flexible Working

About the Company

We’re a fast-growing, independent fashion label known for our unique, boundary-pushing designs and strong brand identity. With a loyal following and global recognition from influencers, stylists, and editorial press, we are now entering our next phase of growth and looking to bring our finance function in-house.

This is an exciting opportunity to become the first in-house Financial Controller and play a pivotal role in shaping the commercial and financial success of a creative, founder-led business.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Founder/Creative Director and working closely with external advisors, the Financial Controller will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function and provide strategic insight to support growth, manage cash flow, and ensure operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all day-to-day financial operations, including bookkeeping, reporting, payroll, and reconciliations
  • Prepare and manage monthly management accounts and cash flow forecasts
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Manage inventory and COGS reporting, especially across e-commerce and wholesale channels
  • Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors
  • Oversee VAT returns, statutory filings, and ensure full compliance with UK accounting standards
  • Business partner with creative, production, and marketing teams to inform financial decision-making
  • Implement systems and processes to support scalability, e.g., ERP or finance systems integration
  • Support funding rounds or investment conversations, where relevant
Qualifications

About You

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Previous experience in a fashion, retail, luxury, or creative industry preferred
  • Commercially minded with strong financial reporting and forecasting skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving SME/startup environment
  • Excellent Excel and financial modelling skills
  • Confident communicator, able to work closely with non-finance stakeholders
  • Proactive, hands-on, and solutions-oriented
